In 1989 Sting visited Brazil and became aware of the way the rainforest was being mishandled.
He created the Rainforest Fund and its positive consequences are until this day undeniable. Nevertheless, his attitudes generated the expression “eco-colonialism” and are until this day remembered by many as an oversimplification of deep entranced issues focusing on consequences and not on causes as international dependence on Brazilian notoriously predatorial - and timewise illegal - meat and mining industry has never been brought into question.
Dave Matthews has been vocal about his worries regarding nature preservation. We would like to have him as a guest on a very special episode of “The Loudest String”.
Together with iconic Brazilian singer, guitar player and ex-Brazil Cultural Minister Gilberto Gil, Dave would be introduced to key figures changing the world’s perspective on original people and Amazon’s conservation.
Disguised as a musical experience, “The Loudest Strings” will break viewers' emotional barriers and instigate viewer’s thoughts on the responsibility we all share. How big companies, political figures and consumerism is direct, unquestionably and unapologetically manipulating markets and governments to further accumulate money and power at the cost of bringing us to a point of no return.
The episode will be divided in three main arcs and locations and it will be shot from the moment Dave arrives in the country documenting his fears and expectations.
He would be brought into Gil’s personal space - either his personal studio, or house - for their first interaction and a little bit of backstory exposition.
Then they would be brought to an external location - a restaurant, bar, museum or gallery, pending the artists own preferences - and would interact with other prominent figures, such as Sonia Guajajara and/or others giving both their endorsement as well as bringing their candid points of view and experiences to the conversation.
During the preceding acts discussion regarding their musical history, common influences and interests, but on the third and last one, our stars will be brought into the place where megic will take place. On a beautiful studio among nature, a cozy theater, museum or even on the beach, the two artists will create an unique musical experience to guide their fans and many others into their own lives and the matters touched throughout the episode.
