GUITAR PLAYERS ARE AS REBELLIOUS AS THEY HAVE EVER BEEN
Guitars are timeless, rebellious instruments. For 7,000 years, its antecedents have lived in the hands of artists, workers, bards, nomads, and slaves—tools to fight oppression and spark hope.
“The Loudest Strings” is a hosted docuseries about guitars, their players, and their value as history-defining tools of Rebellion. It brings the latest generation of guitar heroes together with established names, letting them learn from each other about music, life, and visions for the future.
On the night John F. Kennedy was shot, Bob Dylan took the stage and performed “The Times They Are a-Changin’.” Alone with his guitar, he spoke to a nation in disbelief. In a pivotal year for the civil rights movement, a single musician lent his strength and courage to the country, dreaming of a better world where “he who gets hurt would be he who gets stalled.”
Times did change. Music became a commodity, and artists were silenced for too long. Not anymore. In an era when nature is imperiled, people are mistreated or killed, and voices are suppressed, musicians carry the responsibility to reflect—and lead—movements against injustice. Guitars remain their chosen tools of resistance. It’s time for them to become instruments of change again.
